Top EIGHT Second Tracks

People are always going on about what the best first track (or track ones) might be. Smells Like Teen Spirit? Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band? London Calling?
I say, who cares!? Track twos are where it's at! (Yeah, I just ended that sentence with a preposition!)
When I think track twos, I think rap. This is because almost every rap album I own begins with an introduction track. So here it is, top eight (yeah, i said it) second tracks...
Nas "NY State of Mind"
OutKast "Gasoline Dreams"
Tupac "All About U"
Notorious B.I.G. "Things Done Changed"
Dr. Dre "The Watcher" (Probably my favorite Dre song)
Eminem "Kill You"
Jay Z "December 4th"
Kanye West "We Don't Care" (can't find I source that isn't linked to the intro...)

So, why just eight? Is it because I can't find my Beastie Boys or Tribe Called Quest CDs? Yeah, it could be. So, let's hear it, what other two should have made the list?

Top Ten Memories of Our Left4Dead Game Tonight

A DFC+LUGIBLAH Co-Written Experience.

1. That time Denny saved me from the Hunter
2. That time Denny saved me from the Smoker
3. That time we shot those dudes who were zombies.
4. That time Denny woke up the Witch.
5. That time Adam threw that molotov at the Tank.
6. That time the AI used first aid on us.
7. That time the scary music came on.
8. That time Adam said 'Battlestar Galactica's on. Oh well, we can watch it when we're done.'
9. That time we died right before getting onto the plane.
10. That time the credits rolled.

Top Ten Comic Book Movie Letdowns

Hi. I'm Madrox. I could make copies of myself. If I was that Madrox. Which I'm not. Here's my first list:

As a comic book movie fan, I find myself getting way too excited about upcoming comic book movies, even if they're about characters I don't like. Of course, that could lead to some serious let downs. To celebrate the possibility of the biggest letdown ever in Watchmen, I give you my Top Ten Comic Book Movie Letdowns

10. Catwoman - I didn't expect this to be good. But God knows I didn't expect it to be that bad.
9. The Incredible Hulk - This wasn't bad, really. But I thought it was a step backward.
8. V for Vendetta - It's a fine movie. If you ignore almost everything provocative about the book.
7. Swamp Thing - It looks and feels like it was made in 1952.
6. The Godfather 3 - Such a letdown, it makes the list without having half of the required characteristics.
5. Daredevil - Affleck should've been a warning. I didn't heed it, if it was.
4. X-men: The Last Stand - "Oh man, Iceman's gonna be awesome!" Didn't stop the poorly paced, poor decisions clusterfuck.
3. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - Maybe the biggest "Great Book Terrible Movie" gap.
2. Spider-man 3 - Spider-man 1. Good! Spider-man 2. Great! So how could the same team mess up? Easily, apparently. Just give it a thousand villains. And I LIKED the dancing scene!
1. Batman Forever - Terrible. Not quite terrible enough to be awesome, like Batman & Robin. And it came right after Batman Returns, which makes it all the more shocking.

Top Ten Indications That You're About To Die...

...if you're in a horror movie.

#1: You heard a noise and went to check it out.
#2: You're the Shaggy-esque buddy who smokes too much pot.
#3: You just got laid.
#4: Something frightened you so you ran off on your own.
#5: You're one of the only girls, but you're either the prettiest, smartest, or sluttiest one.
#6: Your shoes lace up, which means they've just come untied.
#7: You've just said something that would become darkly humorous if you died, like "This cake is to die for."
#8: You're the black guy and you're not LL Cool J (or Ving Rhames).
#9: The bad guy's dead so you're settling down for a nice nap by the fire.
#10: You've been stabbed repeatedly with a machete.

Try to make sure this is not you if you ever find yourself in a horror movie situation.

Hottie's Top 10 Songs about Robots

Not entirely original and not the first blog to feature a similar list. But I feel it's only appropriate to do robot songs some justice on a community blog of this sort.

Anyway, here's my list in no particular order:

Radiohead - Paranoid Android: Of course.

Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots: Again, an obvious choice.

Tokyo Police Club - Citizens of Tomorrow: Great song about the coming robot uprising (apparently in 2009).

Flight of the Conchords - Robots: Also known and performed as "The Humans Are Dead." Simply hilarious.

Rush - The Body Electric: They were doing binary solos long before that weird New Zealand singing comedy duo above.

Beastie Boys - Intergalactic: Because of the cool robot voice thingie.

Andrew Bird - Not a Robot, But a Ghost: I understand the title slightly contradicts the point of the list, but I don't care. Good song.

Super Furry Animals - Sex, War, and Robots: I'm terrified of all three things. ;)

Daft Punk - Robot Rock: I don't know, it just makes the heads bop and the toes tap.

Styx - Mr. Roboto: You thought I was gonna forget this one, didn't ya? Had to include it, even if I can only tolerate it once a year.

Upon completion of my list, I realized there is a severe lack of popular music written about robots. So... what did I miss?

Music on my PC, but not in my car

The Damnwells
Betty Davis
Galaxie 500
Mike Ness
British Seapower

There is no order for this list. It's just music I have on my PC, I listen to this kind of stuff while I am doing other things, Twittering, Facebooking, you know the dumb stuff we all do, dumb as in not important.

Things I should be doing.

Here is a list of 10 things I should be doing at this moment rather than goofing around, posting on blogs, reading all my regular internet haunts, and gchatting.

1. Looking for a job. I have been unemployed since early December 08.
2. Laundry. I have no clean clothes or socks.
3. Dishes. Silverware is all dirty.
4. General cleaning of my apartment. It is beyond messy.
5. Taking a shower. It is 1pm and I haven't showered yet because I have no job.
6. Going for a walk. It is nice and sunny outside and excercise is good for me.
7. Packing. Moving in a little less than a month.
8. Art. Need to do more creative things while I am not working.
9. Grocery shopping. Pretty sure everything in the fridge is expired.
10. Drinking coffee. I have some that I am supposed to be critiquing.

Don't want to do any of these things right now. Happy Monday!

You All Everybody! The Ultimate Theme Song List

Yes, I am aware that "You all everybody" is not the theme song for lost, but I just can't resist referencing it. I watch most of my television shows on DVDs or Netflix instant play, so I always have the opportunity to fast forward through the unnecessary theme song and opening credits. I noticed recently that I sometimes don't take advantage of this opportunity. Some themes are just too damn god to skip over. Here are a list of my favorite theme songs/opening credits. Keep in mind, I'm not saying these are the best, but they're definitely my favorites.
The Wire -Any season really, but let's say season 2 to show the Tom Waits love
Battlestar Galactica -Has there ever been a better song to represent a show?
Lost -Don't question it
Buffy the Vampire Slayer -It gets me pumped!
X-Men -Best.Theme.Ever.
Powderpuff Girls -It's just as fun as the show
Scrubs -I'm a sucker for getting straight to the point
Friends -It will be stuck in my head for the rest of my life. That counts for something, right?
The Twilight Zone -Classic
True Blood -It scares me...

So go ahead, what did I miss?

Top Ten Super Heroes...

...who could destroy the world if they suddenly turned bad.

I. Speedball
II. Black Panther
III. Flash
IV. Iceman
V. Wolverine
VI. Crazy Jane
VII. Hank Pym
VIII. Animal Man
IX. 3-D Man
X. Batman (cause John says so)

And that's all I have to say about that.

PS Superman who?

What's on Jaybuls DVR

A scary amount of shows!

The Closer
Flashpoint
CSI Miami
CSI NY
CSI
Diners, Drive-ins & Dives

Ten Current Gen Video Games Adam Has Beaten

I have a lot of games from the current generation of video gaming, as I have an Xbox 360, a Playstation 3, a Wii, and a DS. Even though I have a lot of games, I haven't beaten very many. Here are ten games that I have finished (and by finished I mean: I've seen the ending).

Ratchet & Clank Future Tools of Destruction
Dead Rising
Condemned
Fable II
Mass Effect
Halo 3
Bioshock
Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Uncharted Drake's Fortune

Obviously if I committed enough time to a game to play it all the way through, I really enjoyed it, so this list is remarkably close to my list of favorite current gen games. If you've yet to play any of them, I highly recommend you do!

My First Post & List

Woot!
The top five things I like to drink, plus one I want to try.

5. Orange juice, I love it in the morning, it makes sense to me to drink it in the morning.

4. Iced Coffee, I don't really know how I got hooked on it, was it the idea of drinking something cold that's usually hot, or is it the flavor, I must do further research.

3. Iced tea, no I am not talking about sweet tea, I am talking about tea with ice and maybe a lemon slice and No Suger. It just works for me.

2. Pineapple Juice, I do love this stuff, the sweetness, the bits of pineapple floating in it.

1. Homemade Lemonade, the perfect drink, sweet tart and drinkable year round. You even get to adjust the qualities of it while mixing it.

The one I want to try is Bubble tea, I know what it is, and the idea of beads of Tapioca and tea with milk and sweetner sounds too interesting to miss. But sadly I doubt I will see it in central PA.

Top 10 Neglected CD's

For my first list, I'm going through my cd case and picking out my 10 LEAST listened to CDs. I definitely have more than 10 that I never listen to - so I'll pick those that I've kept the longest and still never listened to very often and in some cases EVER. Oh BMG and the used section at Hastings took all my money in my first college go round.

1. The Beatles Anthology Volume 1 (the 2nd cd I ever owned)
2. Blink 182...I don't even know the name of the album
3. The Red D Band - Good Beads (an old boss of mine's generic late 90s swing band)
4. Grateful Dead - Best of "Skeletons from the Closet"
5. Pearl Jam - Oceans (it's this weird 4 track thinger)
6. Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
7. Frank Zappa - Apostrophe/Overnight Sensation
8.The Blood Hound Gang - I think it's the one before Hooray for Boobies...but it may be H4B
9. Squirrel Nut Zippers - Perennial Favorites (wow, I kept typing perineal - which is very different)
10.TLC - Crazy Sexy Cool

Last.fm top ten!

Hello new blog that I am writing in! How do you do? I am great, thanks for asking. I saw the Pandora posts from the other day and though I don't really use Pandora, (I like to choooose what I listen to, thank you very much!) I thought I should start out by doing a current top ten of music, based on what I listen to, which Last.fm compiles for me! I only signed up on Last.fm on Dec. 3, so this is my overall list since that date!

1. Beach House
2. The Raveonettes
3. The Smiths
4. Bon Iver
5. Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins
6. The Beatles
7. Rilo Kiley
8. Ratatat
9. Fleet Foxes
10. Morrissey

I find this list a little bit odd, considering that I don't really ever listen to Ratatat, however they were playing at the pizza place I went to earlier today. WEIRD! I guess that is the downfall of sharing your laptop/itunes with a roommate/best friend! Also I wanted to make it into a top 20, because I listen to some good shit, but thought that might be breaking the rules too early. All of these bands are super duper amazing, so you should probably do yourself a favor and go listen to all of them right now.

Ten Great Movie Sequels

So most of the time sequels to movies suck. Sometimes they're pretty cool. Sometimes they're better than the original.

These are some sequels that I like.

Friday the 13th Part VI Jason Lives
Devil's Rejects
Spider-Man 2
Freddy Vs Jason
Dawn of the Dead
Return of the Living Dead 2
Kill Bill 2
Evil Dead 2
Godfather 2
Wes Craven's New Nightmare

Seems that's a bit heavy on the horror movie side there, but that's just how I roll!!

Dead Technology

Some things are just a waste of space. I like to point that out to people. Thanks to the internet; cell phones; and reality television, we hardly need any of those other things we used to rely on! One of my favorite things to do in life is point out these dead technologies to people who are using them, because there's nothing quite like pretending you know what you're talking about. That said, here are some very useful (ha!) tools that I often categorize as dead technology.

Landline telephones
White out
Manual vehicle transmissions
Cursive handwriting
Fax machines
Answering machines
Long division
Video controllers that plug into the system
Fire
MySpace

I feel like I'm forgetting some of my favorites, but I guess that's because they aren't worth remembering...

Twitter All-Stars, Kayma Edition

Freakin' Twitter, man. It's gonna be the end of society as we know it. Say goodbye to to family values and local community; a year from now face-to-face communication will be virtually replaced by tweet tweeting. What happened to good old traditional values?

Oh wait, I forgot; I don't care. Twitter for everyone!

feliciaday- Star of Dr. Horrible and her own web series, The Guild. A veritable goddess.
LunchBagArt- This guy draws an (awesome) cartoon character on his kids' lunch bags everyday. Can you say Best Dad Ever?
Greenspeak- Former 1up, CGW and GFW superstar Jeff Green. A father to us all.
UnicornWatch- Only for those who BELIEVE.
Woot- Because you're too damn lazy to check the website. Or your RSS feeds. Or your texts...
DellOutlet- Occasional, Twitter-exclusive deals on refurbished computer goods. I'm down.
CobraCommander- Yes, THAT Cobra Commander.
tinybuddha- For when you need just a little inspiration.
GarnettLee- Former host of 1upyours and current host of ListenUp!
warrenellis- For when you need a reminder that the British are better, more interesting and quite frankly crazier than we are.

Now get out there and tweet tweet

Twitter All-Stars

If there's one thing I love, it's eating Oreos. If there are two things I love, it's eating Oreos and wasting time on Twitter! I'm sure you are all familiar with Twitter and the level of awesome it brings to all our lives. I just wanted to point out some of my favorite Tweeters, to you know, share the love, or whatever.

majornelson -If you play 360, follow this man
warrenellis - Because he is all kinds of crazy
anniehall17 - She's totally my gf
Polinees - He's my buddy (he's also crazy)
stephenfry - He's very entertaining and active with his tweets
fforward - Always great links
comicswap - They're my comic store, I need to know what is happening there
dvdquotes - It's fun!
kevinrose - Why not?
dannytrs - Or any of the TRS guys. Danny talks about movies and comics the most, so I picked him.

That's that. Do what you will.

Ten Random, Meaningless Quotes From Lost

You know what's fun? Insightful, interesting, or humorous quotes.

You know what's even more fun? Completely meaningless, random quotes. So here are ten random quotes from the latest episode of Lost, "The Little Prince."

"I have always been with you."
"We're going to be just fine here."
"You want to tell me why it isnt happening to the rest of us?"
"You did this to yourself."
"That's where this all started maybe that's where this'll all stop."
"I think you have the wrong room."
"I needed that pain to get to where I am now."
"Oh my God."
"I can fix this, Kate, I can fix it."
"I wasn't about to tell you anything."

Enjoy! They have nothing to do with the plot, and provide essentially no insight into the episode whatsoever.

Driving Tunes

So, I was reading Polinees' Pandora mix and I started thinking about what I have been listening to lately. I don't use Pandora very often from home. I do use it at school, while my students are writing or working on projects. It's a pretty awesome tool.
My favorite time to rock out is really in the car. I still don't have any kind of IPod adapter, so here are the CDs in my car right now.

Outkast-Stankonia
Kanye West-Late Registration
Lil Wayne-Tha Carter III
Nas-Illmatic
Jay Z-The Black Album
Vampire Weekend-Vampire Weekend
Okkervil River-The Stage Names
Okkervil River-The Stand Ins
Gaslight Anthem-The '59 Sound
Fleet Foxes-Fleet Foxes

My favorite thing to listen when I drive is rap, but I like to switch it up now and then.

Adam's Pandora Quickmix

The following is a list of the first 10 songs to come up on my Pandora QuickMix today.

If you're not using Pandora, it's a great way to chill back and listen to some music. You can add me as a friend if you want and listen to my QuickMix quick and easy, or make up your own station by plugging in a few artists.

New Feeling (Live) - Talking Heads
Vibes and Stuff - A Tribe Called Quest
Major Leagues - Pavement
Age of Consent - New Order
The Flowers She Sent & The Flowers She Said She Sent - The Magnetic Fields
Cocaine Blues - Woody Guthrie
Nuthin' But A G Thang - Dr. Dre
Upward Over the Mountain - Iron & Wine
Look Into the Air - Explosions in the Sky
Fine - James

Well that's my list of the first ten songs I listened to today while writing through Pandora Radio. I hope you enjoyed it!

For the record, my favorite song from the list is probably The Flower She Sent... by the Magnetic Fields, but my favorite one that I encountered only because of Pandora was definitely Look Into the Air by Explosions in the Sky. Love that band; perfect writing music.

That's all I got!

The DFC's DVR

Some things are important. Television is one of those things. That said, here's my DVR list.

LOST
Battlestar Galactica
Robot Chicken
Jeopardy
Daily Show
Colbert Report
30 Rock
The Office

...I think that is actually the whole list. That's kind of sad. I watch most TV shows on DVD, so that is why it is so slim. I should pick up some new series though. Any suggestions?

Adam's DVR List

Top 10 Things on My DVR

Well, this is certainly a mark of one's TV watching tastes, isn't it? After all, watching TV when it's supposed to air: That's dead technology.

So the top 10 things on my DVR, in actual order of series priority, are the following (Note that this is the order they're listed on the DVR, not in order of my preference:)

True Blood
Dexter
Chuck
Eureka
Fringe
The Office
24
Entourage
Heroes
Leverage

There are a few shows that I don't DVR, but every week I seek out the new episodes and set my DVR to record them; these include Burn Notice and some Discovery channel programs. This is because my DVR wants to record every single flippin' airing of any episode of Burn Notice as if it were new. Stupid, stupid machine.
